Hello my friends!
This is the week of my CLEANSE/ DETOX. I am preparing detox juices this week for myself and several others. It is always encouraging to have a buddy to go through it with you so you can encourage each other. My friend Amy Koerner is going through the juice detox with me and helping me prepare the green juices (day 1 and 4). We have also created several raw recipes that we can use for meals throughout our juice detox process. I am going to share those with you right here throughout the week! So stay tuned in!
Today was the first day of my juice/raw food detox. I started off with 8 oz of warm water with 1/2 of a lemon squeezed in it. Drinking this made me feel a little nauseated. It is a natural diuretic and very good for your digestive track. I then had my breakfast, 8 oz of my Day 1 juice. It consists of Kale, Collards, Carrots and a lemon. For my mid-morning snack I had a raw cashew laura bar. I love lara bars, but I only allow myself to have two throughout my detox process. Amy and I made lunch for our food business “Wholey Chow”. We made raw zucchini pasta layered with raw homemade “cheese sauce” (made from nuts) and homemade raw marinara sauce. We covered the pasta with a homemade raw “parmesan cheese”. We had a delicious salad with raspberries, strawberries, grapes, hemp seeds, and walnuts lightly covered with a raw fruity vinaigrette. Lastly, we had a delicious raw pineapple, strawberry popsicle. Don’t mean to brag, but I think I will….. Our raw meal was fabulous! For my mid-afternoon snack I had the other 8oz of my green juice. It was pretty good if I might say so! Lastly for dinner, I had left over zucchini pasta with a spinach, tomato salad slightly covered with a raw avocado basil dressing. See recipe at the bottom.
Here are some beautiful pictures of our yummy raw lunch!
I will leave you with this amazing raw dressing recipe….
Avocado and Basil Dressing
Makes about 2 cups
Ingredients: 1 avocado, pitted and meat removed from shell, ½ cup of basil, packed 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil , 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar , 2 tablespoons of honey, ½ teaspoon of salt, 1 – 1 ½ cups of filtered water to thin
▪Avocados Good quality fats (including avocados, extra virgin olive oil and coconuts), enjoyed in moderation, will actually store in the body as energy and not fat which helps you lose weight in the long run.
▪Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar Raw, organic apple cider vinegar from Braggs, unlike other types of vinegar including balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar and rice wine vinegar, is considered a health tonic used to support a healthy immune system, good digestion and weight loss.
▪Directions: Combine the avocado, basil, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, salt and honey to your food processor. Pulse a few times to combine. Then add ½ cup of water and blend. Continue adding water up to 1 ½ cups total until you reach your desired consistency. Toss in a serving with salad and enjoy!
Note: If you do not have a food processor you can use a high powered blender.
